Krishisamhitha supports open learning and open courses. As an initiative KrishiSamhitha is doing various capacity building workshops to promote digital learning utilising various technologies and tools that are freely available and teacher friendly.

FDP at MANUU

As part of a FDPs organized by MANUU in 2019 (Mar and Aug), we introduced simple Education technology tools to participants which help them in their teaching practices. Our aim is by the end of the sessions the participants must not only have some knowledge and awareness towards these tools but they should be skilful enough to prepare their e-resources.

We made sure that neither big IT infrastructure nor a big set up is required to begin with. We introduced simple tools like Audacity- an open-source digital audio editor and recording application software and screen recording tools like Camstudio to capture lectures, Canva – a simple free graphic design tool to create audio, video resources and visual resources. Participants were introduced to these tools and a simple yet brief hands on activity session made them successful in building e-resources of respective subjects to share with their students.

In another Two-day workshop in the same University we introduced Technology enabled learning using Moodle. Though there are pedagogically sound teachers, there is a lack of technological skills, infrastructure and fewer eLearning support staff making the cutting-edge teaching learning technology is not reachable to either teachers or to students. In recent days many campuses are Wi-Fi enabled and teaching learning community is well connected through smart mobiles. Taking advantage of the current scenario we tried to train faculty with a short two-day training sessions on “Online Teaching Learning Process”.

Gnomio is a Moodle based online learning environment facilitating tracking, loads of pedagogies helpful to teachers to practice blended learning or purely online teaching by reducing clerical work by at least 60%. To use Moodle environment in Gnomio is simple and knowledge of Programming is not required. This platform is greatly helpful in practicing online teaching learning process by infusing creativity, logical thinking in students by providing interesting pedagogies like discussion forums, quizzes etc.

At the end of this course, all participants will design, formulate and can run Gnomio Moodle site for their own course practicing ICT based Blended Learning.

 The workshop objectives are to

  • Utilize simple technology and Design a blended learning course in cloud platform
  • Explore LMS functionality – enrolling users, adding resources and activities etc.
  • Uploading course referral material-video, text docs, Online links etc.
  • Create learning activities and assessments as a blended learning course in cloud and Provide feedback

Created a course and enrolled workshop participants as students in the course Online teaching learning process. Shared presentations and other resource material.

Workshop Outcome

The outcome of the short two-day training helped participants to familiarize with technology enabled teaching and learning process. Around 30 participants designed and developed a sample module of their respective courses and presented them.
